Tarka Dhall


  • Twice the amount of water to one amount of lentils.
  • 1 cupped hand full of red lentils per person. Recipe 4 portions.
  • 1/2 onion finely chopped lengthways.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  • 1 tablespoon of oil bring to heat, add onion and fry till just before burning.
  • Add garlic keep stirring, for about a minute, remove from heat and leave to rest .
  • Chop a hand full of fresh coriander .
  • Just before serving add the coriander, onion and garlic to the dhall, Job done
  • Optional 4 red tine chilli’s.
  • If the dhall is to thick add water.
